Silver City Quilt Guild (SCQG) Mission Statement
Our Mission statement is simple: To promote and carry on the tradition of love and sharing that has always been a part of quilt making.
The Silver City Quilt Guild owes its success and the resulting advantages and privileges of membership to the diligent work of countless members. We are a volunteer quilting guild. Everyone is needed to help preserve and maintain this guild from which we derive so much. Volunteering is the way to make your specific contribution to SCQG. It is also the best way to meet other members and to form lasting relationships. There are many positions to be filled each year, all of which require the assistance of each and every member. Even a small contribution of your time is helpful. SCQG needs you!
We are pleased to announce that effective March 4, 2014 our application for tax exempt status has been approved by the IRS pursuant to section 501(C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We have been further classified as a public charity. Because of our tax-exempt status we are qualified to receive tax-deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts. Our mailing address is: Silver City Quilt Guild, Inc., 306 Winthrop Street, #111, Taunton, MA 02780.

Hard to believe we have only two guild meetings left!
We are fortunate to have award winning quilter Timna Tarr join us at our May meeting. Timna is considered an expert long arm quilter and has recently embraced the modern quilt movement. We will have the pleasure of seeing her beautiful quilts as well as hearing about this new movement that has recently exploded on the scene.
Our last meeting will be held at the PACC on School Street, Taunton, where we will be holding our first UFO auction. This is the Guild’s only fund raiser for the 2015-2016 year. We encourage all of you to participate–you can donate and you can buy or (which is the committee’s choice) you can do both!
We will be collecting items at the May meeting. We will also be accepting articles right up to the June meeting! Items, after the May meeting, can be dropped off at Roberta Burke’s house. Please call first–508-823-3406.

UFO Fun(d)raiser: Join us at our June meeting being held at PACC (Portuguese Athletic Civic Club), 175 School Street, Taunton. Roberta and her team are now accepting donated UFO’s to be auctioned off at this meeting. This should be a really fun(d) night. Join us on June 20, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Hope to see you all there. If you haven’t done so already, bring your UFO’s to the May meeting.
April Program News
We have a wonderful three months of programs planned!
First, we are excited to have Adele Scott at our April Guild meeting. Adele will be demoing new products, old standbys and showing us how to use those gadgets we purchased and can’t remember what to do with–and she does it with expertise and humor! What a great combination! This is a guild meeting not to be missed! Oh! I almost forgot! She will be vending, both before and after her lecture.
May brings Timna Tarr. Timna is a well known and respected modern quilter. She has had a very successful custom machine quilting business since 2001, won countless quilting awards for color, free motion machine quilting and best piecing. We can look forward to some new ideas using color and design. Nice way to get energized for our summer quilting.
Our June meeting will be held at the Portuguese American Civic Club on School Street. This venue will give the program committee more room to display all the wonderful items guild members will be donating for our auction. The committee will be accepting donations at the April and May meetings. Items can also be dropped off at Roberta Burke’s house. More info will be given at the April meeting.
